Kadziola and Ociepski win gold in Malbork

 
Malbork, Poland, August 4, 2019 – Michal Kadziola and Marcin Ociepski won their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour gold medal in their first World Tour tournament together when they triumphed in the Malbork 1-Star tournament on Sunday. 

The Polish pair delighted their home crowd with a 2-0 (23-21, 21-17) victory over Lithuania’s Patrikas Stankevicius and Audrius Knasas, who also won their first World Tour medals as a tandem.

Kadziola has played on the World Tour since 2007, but Ociepski was playing in only his third World Tour tournament in three years. However, they won five from five en route to the top of the podium in Malbork. 

It was the first time that Malbork in Poland’s north east hosted a World Tour tournament and it took place in a 650-year-old castle. Kadziola and Ociepski in Malbork collected the €1,000 first-place prize and claimed 200 Tokyo 2020 Olympic points.

Mariusz Prudel and Mikolaj Miszczuk triumphed in an-Polish clash to claim the bronze medal. They defeated Martin Chiniewicz and Michal Korycki 2-0 (24-22, 21-15) to win their first World Tour medal as a partnership in their second World Tour tournament.
