Tsopoulou and Manavi into Alba Adriatica quarters

 
Alba Adriatica, Italy, July 13, 2019 – Konstantina Tsopoulou and Dimitra Manavi remain on course for their fourth FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour medal of the year when they reached the quarterfinals of the women-only Alba Adriatica 1-Star event on Saturday. 

The Greek duo have already won one gold, one silver and one bronze, and they beat Italy's Alice Gradini and Chiara They 2-1 (18-21, 21-17, 15-11) to set up a clash against the Netherlands’ Katja Stam and Julia Wouters.

Agata Zuccarelli and Gaia Traballi are highest seeded Italian side in the competition, and they defeated New Zealand's Francesca Kirwan and Olivia MacDonald 2-0 (21-16, 21-15) to keep the host nation’s hopes alive. They now play Ukrainian twins Inna Makhno and Iryna Makhno

The Netherlands' Iris Reinders and Mexime van Driel face compatriots Emi van Driel and Raïsa Schoon for a place in the semifinals after they enjoyed a 2-1 (25-27, 21-17, 16-14) victory over Italy's Margherita Bianchin and Reka Orsi Toth.

The fourth quarterfinal pitches Norway's Victoria Kjølberg and Ane Hjortland against Italy’s Federica Frasca and Arianna Barboni. The Norwegian duo held off the challenge of Germany's Leonie Klinke and Lisa-Sophie Kotzan to win 2-1 (21-13, 14-21, 15-10) and progress.
