Lausanne, Switzerland, July 1, 2019 – Beach volleyball fans can buy tickets for the Rome 2019 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals from today. Doing so means they will be guaranteed a courtside seat for one of the year’s sporting highlights, set in a spectacular setting.
Rome’s Foro Italico is the host venue for the tournament that runs from September 4-8. With a total prize purse of $600,000 and a main draw of 32 teams per gender, as well as Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualification points, the final tournament of the season will gather the best teams in the world in Rome for what promises to be one of the most exciting competitions of the year.
Italy’s capital has a proud record of hosting FIVB Beach Volleyball events. It hosted FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour events in 2009 and 2010, then in 2011 the 11,000-capacity Foro Italico Tennis Centre was the centrepiece of a memorable FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships won by two Brazilian teams – Juliana Felisberta and Larissa France in the women’s, and Emanuele Rego and Alison Cerutti in the men’s.
Two more World Tour events followed in 2012 and 2013, on both occasions being played in front of packed stands full of passionate fans.
In 2017 and 2018 Hamburg’s Rothenbaum Stadium hosted the World Tour Finals and took the tournament to new levels in front of 13,000 fans.
It means beach volleyball fans will be in for five days of thrilling action at the Rome 2019 World Tour Finals.
