Lausanne, Switzerland and Luxembourg, February 8, 2019 - As many as five 1-star events are due to take place on European soil in the summer of 2019, thus providing further opportunities for up-and-coming beach volleyball teams to test their skills and make the next step in their careers.

One of Europe’s most popular beach volleyball destinations, the Austrian town of Baden will host a double-gender 1-star event from June 6-10, only a few days prior to playing host to the 2019 edition of the U18 European Beach Volleyball Championships. The 1-Star tournament will continue Baden’s success story with players returning to compete at the iconic venue set up at the Strandbad.

The four other events will take place in the month of August, with Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana set to welcome a competition for the third straight year, with the tournament running from August 1-3. That same week, the World Tour will stop in Malbork, where a men’s event only will account for the first international beach volleyball competition of this calibre to take place in this town in northwestern Poland.

If Baden has been on the beach volleyball map for more than a decade, Vaduz will host an international event for the fifteenth straight year. The 1-Star Beacharena in Liechtenstein will run from August 7 to 11 and fans can again look forward to enjoying the experience of a tournament held downtown right at the foot of Vaduz Castle.

The last 1-Star tournament confirmed at this stage will take place in Knokke-Heist, Belgium. A very popular seaside resort with Belgians and tourists alike, it has already been home to many national beach volleyball events. This time around, Knokke-Heist will welcome a double-gender international competition due to run from August 15 to 18, with home heroes Dries Koekelkoren and the currently injured Tom van Walle hoping to exploit home-court advantage after touring the world for the last three years.
