Baden, Austria, June 8, 2019 – Taylor Pischke and Sophie Bukovec reached the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Baden 1-Star quarterfinals on Saturday after they defeated Ioana-Alexandra Ordean and Beata Vaida.
The Canadian pair beat the Romanians 2-0 (21-13, 21-11) in front of a full-house of 1,800 at the Baden Stadium to set up a quarterfinal clash with Austrian duo Katharina Schützenhöfer and Lena Plesiutschnig on Sunday.

It is the second year that the Austrian town has hosted a World Tour event and it runs from June 6 to June 10 with the winning teams claiming $7,500 in prize money.
There will be another Austrian team in the quarterfinals after sisters Nadine and Teresa Strauss topped their pool with two wins from two. It meant that they avoided the round of 12 and went straight into the quarterfinals
“It is really amazing, since it was our goal to get out of the group phase,” Nadine Strauss said. “The crowd pushed us so much, so that we could have a lot of fun, this is the secret to today’s success.”
