Lausanne, Switzerland, December 21, 2018 – Browse through our selection of highlights from men’s beach volleyball in 2018, including photos from the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour, U19 World Championships and the Youth Olympic Games.

Latvians Martins Plavins and Edgars Tocs won gold at the Dela Beach Open in The Hague, which was the fifth event on the 2017/2018 calendar and the first in the 2018 calendar year (The Hague, Netherlands, January 7).

In June, Russia’s Denis Shekunov and Dmitrii Veretiuk climbed their way from the qualifying rounds to the top of the podium at the FIVB Beach Volleyball U19 Men’s World Championship (Nanjing, China, June 15).

The U19 Men’s World Championship medallists didn't lose any time before posing for selfies either (Nanjing, China, June 15).

The fans kept the energy going all season, providing a fun and exciting atmosphere (Gstaad, Switzerland, July).

Later in the year and in a possible preview of the Olympic beach volleyball tournament in Tokyo in 2020, Chile’s Marco Grimalt and Esteban Grimalt struck this impressive pose when the pair earned their first World Tour gold at the 3-star event in the Japanese capital (Tokyo, Japan, July 29).

Winning has turned Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sorum upside down with six podium finishes in 2018, including one of four golds this year at the Major in Vienna (Vienna, Austria, August 5).

And Mol and Sorum ended a fabulous season with victory at the World Tour Finals in Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany, August 19).

And that victory for Mol and Sorum came at a packed Am Rothenbaum stadium in Hamburg (Hamburg, Germany, August 19).

In one of the final highlights of the year, referee Keith Murless celebrated retirement to applause from the Youth Olympic Games bronze medal match crowd and in the company of beach volleyball legend Emanuel Rego. (Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 18).

At the same event, Sweden’s David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig celebrated their gold medal win against the Netherlands’ Matthew Immers and Yorick De Groot (Buenos Aires, Argentina, October 18).
