Top seeds Vakili and Salemi rule Satun pool play

 
Satun, Thailand, April 9, 2019 – Arash Vakili and Bahman Salemiinjehboroun led the charge of the top two seeded pairs through pool play on Tuesday in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Satun 1-star.



The top-seeded Arash and Salemi marched into the quarterfinals with two straight-set wins in Pool A. The Iranians won against Thailand’s Santitham Khruttha and Poravid Taovato 2-0 (21-19, 21-15) and Qatar’s Tamer Abdelrasoul and Assam Ahmed Mahmoud 2-0 (21-15, 21-13).

The second-seeded Kazakh pair Alexandr Dyachenko and Alexey Sidorenko topped Pool B, following their win against Austria’s Jakob Reiter and Simon Baldauf 2-1 (21-7, 31-33, 15-13) and Ukraine’s Vladyslav Iemelianchyk and Denys Denysenko 2-0 (27-25, 21-14).

Thailand’s Kitti Duangjinda and Dunwinit Kaewsai and Hungary’s Artur Hajos and Balasz Benko won Pool C and Pool D, respectively.

The Thais came up with straight-set wins over New Zealand’s Thomas Hartles and Alani Nicklin (33-31, 21-18) and Russia’s Daniil Kuvichka and Anton Kislytsyn (21-19, 21-19), while the Hungarians prevailed against Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Yakovlev and Sergey Bogatu 2-1 (19-21, 21-16, 22-20) and Thailand’s Banlue Nakprakhong and Narongdet Kangkon 2-0 (21-19, 21-15).
