Four European pairs advance to Vaduz main draw

 
Vaduz, Liechtenstein, August 7, 2019 – Austria’s Florian Ertl and Johannes Kratz, seeded No. 1 for the qualification, made it into the main draw of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Vaduz 1-star, following their 2-1 (21-14, 22-24, 15-12) win over Norway’s Stian Opsahl and Christian Jorgensen Ruud.



Ertl and Kratz got a bye in the first round and then earned the main draw spot with a win in the second round. The Austrian pair attracted attention in the last two tournaments with top placings. They finished second in Pinarella di Cervia and finished fourth a week ago in Ljubljana.

The Austrians pair will join the Netherlands’ Tom van Steenis and Sven Vismans, Czech Republic’s Robert Kufa and Martin Melmuka and Russia’s Vsevolod Bobrikov and Vladisla Mikhalev, which all recorded two victories in the qualification round.

In the main draw tournament on Thursday, Dutch duo Ruben Penninga and Jasper Bouter are the top seeds. Another exciting tandem comes from Poland – Mariusz Prudel and Mikolaj Miszczuk – who are seeded fourth in the tournament. The 33-year-old veteran Prudel has already taken part in two Olympic Games’ editions with other partners and has won two important World Tournament in recent years.

The Dutch and Russians are the strongest contingents in the Vaduz men’s event with three teams each competing in the main draw tournament.
