News 02/08/2019 Slovenian teams impress at home in Ljubljana Ljubljana, Slovenia, August 2, 2019 – Three Slovenian pairs topped their pools in the men’s main draw tournament of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Ljubljana 1-star on Friday.Thursday’s qualification round was all about Austria in the men’s tournament, but on the second day of the event the home teams stole the spotlight, as Danijel Pokersnik and Jure Peter Bedrac, who joined forces less than two months ago made an upset on heavy favourites Ruben Penninga and Jasper Bouther of the Netherlands.“We are very happy that we ended the pool phase with two wins,” Danijel Pokersnik said. “Ruben and Jasper were tough opponents, but our solid performance brought us to the quarterfinals. I am looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd tomorrow.”Besides Tadej Bozenk and Vid Jakopin, the second Slovenian pair to qualify to the top eight are Nejc Zemljak and Jan Pokersnik after their win against the Czech Republic’s David Lenc and Filip Habr.“Our goal for today was to claim two victories and qualify directly to the quarterfinals,” Jan Pokersnik said. “Lenc and Habr proved to be tough rivals.
