Beach Volleyball Awards: Mol wins Best Male Blocker of 2018/2019

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 11, 2019 - Based on voting by players and coaches, the FIVB World Tour Beach Volleyball Awards recognise the outstanding performers of the year.

Best Male Blocker of 2018/2019 - Anders Mol (NOR)

Anders Mol has shown that he has several outstanding elements in his game, but one that stands out is his blocking.

When the Norwegian jumps to face a rival at the net he leaves little room for them to get past his 200cm-tall frame, and even if they do his excellent agility means he can adapt in mid-air to close off any gaps.

The 22-year-old has also used his blocking power as a vital way to score points and win tournaments, which he and partner Christian Sorum continued to do in the 2018-19 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

The duo, better known as the ‘Beach Vikings’ won eight tournaments, including one in front of their home crowd at the Oslo 1-Star.

Next in his sights are the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where the world will be familiar with his powerful, monster blocks.
