Ana Patricia/Rebecca and Klineman/Ross advance to Yangzhou final

Yangzhou, China, October 13, 2018 – Brazil’s Ana Patricia Silva and Rebecca Cavalcanti and the United States Alexandra Klineman and April Ross beat their respective opponents to enter the final of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Yangzhou 4-star.

Ana Patricia and Rebecca made it to their second consecutive World Tour final in China, after capturing the Qinzhou 3-star gold on October 4.

“China indeed brings me good luck,” Ana Patricia said. “I will work very hard tomorrow to get my fourth title here.”

They started the day with a win in the Round of 16 against Poland’s Kinga Kolosinska and Katarzyna Kolociek 2-0 (21-15, 21-17), then faced their Brazilian compatriots Barbara Seixas and Fernanda Alves in the quarterfinals, where they knocked the top seeds out of the competition with a 2-1 (21-15, 21-19).

In the semifinals, the Brazilians defeated the United States’ Sara Hughes and Summer Ross 2-0 (21-16, 21-18). Ana Patricia attacked hard at every opportunity she got, while Rebecca took care of the defence. Even when they were down in the second set, they managed to stage a comeback midway through the set, until they seized the match victory.

“We have to be very focused tomorrow,” Ana Patricia said. “We have to complete our sideouts and if we can do this then I think we have a good chance.”
