Aydin, Turkey, May 1, 2019 - The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Aydin Masters will be held in the Turkish city's centre on Ataturk City Square from May 16 to 19.

The event in Turkey is the first 2-star World Tour event in Europe on the international federation's 2018-2019 beach volleyball calendar and one of four European events added to the schedule in March, also including tournaments in Ios, Greece from June 14 to 16, Alba Adriatica, Italy from July 12 to 14 and Pinarella di Cervia, Italy from July 25 to 28. The four tournaments will be organised in collaboration with the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV).

Located in Turkey's Aegean Region, Aydin is a hub for tourism in the country, attracting numerous visitors, with peak season from April to October. The city traces its roots back to early settlements in 7000BC with Aegean, Mediterranean and Anatolian groups inhabiting a region which benefits from access to the sea and its trade routes.

The Turkish Volleyball Federation and Aydin Metropolitan Municipality have organised at least one beach volleyball event every year since 2016. This year's Aydin Masters will take place on one of the city's busiest squares. Thousands of fans are expected to attend the event from May 16 to 19.
