Berntsen/Mol, H gear up for FIVB World Tour Finals

Jurmala, Latvia, August 23, 2019 – Norway’s Mathias Berntsen/Hendrik Nikolai Mol have secured their place and are ready to take on this year’s FIVB World Tour Finals in Rome on September 4, 2019.

Berntsen/Mol, H are back on the sands at the Jurmala 3-Star in the lead up to Rome. The pair reached the quarterfinals at the Edmonton 3-Star, but were forced to pull out of the Vienna 5-Star followed by a month out of action due to injury.

“We had simultaneous shoulder injuries, similar injuries and it took us a similar time to get rid of them. So we had to take our break, had a rest and now we are coming back stronger,” said Mol, H.

“We are improving for every game. We’ve had some small injuries so we’re been out for a month now, so we haven’t played since the 3-Star in Canada, but we are getting there and getting better and better and we keep pushing each other. I think our team will be really good with some more time and with some more confidence in our game,” said Mol, H.

Berntsen and Hendrik Mol teamed up for the FIVB World Tour at the beginning of 2018, with Hendrik previously partnering both of the world number one team, younger brother, Anders Berntsen Mol and Christian Sandlie Sørum.

The Norwegians will enter into the qualification tournament of their first FIVB World Tour Finals in Rome.

“We have this tournament and a week in Oslo in preparation to play as good as possible in the World Tour Finals. We really want to do well, since we had to pull out of Vienna due to our injuries. So we really want to show ourselves on the biggest stage there is, and we’re excited for that,” said Mol, H.

“We of course want to achieve getting into the main draw, and then we are searching for top ten for sure. So it’s going to be an exciting tournament here and also in Rome,” said Berntsen.
