Olympian Goldschmidt reaches Kg Speu main draw

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, March 7, 2019 – Grant Goldschmidt and Leo Williams were one of four teams to reach the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Kg Speu 1-Star main draw on Thursday. 

The Kg Speu 1-Star runs from March 7-10 and is one of two 1-Star tournaments organised by Cambodia during the 2018-19 World Tour, and one of 20 1-Star tournaments throughout the year. 


South African Goldschmidt, who featured at the London 2012 Olympic Games, and Williams defeated Poland’s Adrian Sdebel and Piotr Ilewicz 2-1 (21-19, 21-23, 15-13) to reach the main draw that starts on Friday. 

Goldschmidt and Williams are joined in the main draw by Japan’s Kensuke Shoji and Masato Kurasaka who continued their development in their second tournament together by beating Norway's Stian Opsahl and Christian Jorgensen Ruud 2-0 (21-15, 21-19).

Austria's Moritz Fabian Kindl and Arwin Kopschar are also playing in their second tournament together, and they only needed two sets to defeat Norway’s Hans Erik Dybfest and Reuben Lovli 2-0 (21-17, 21-13). 

The fourth place went to USA’s Mark Edwin Burik and Ian Satterfield who are back in tandem for the first time for nearly three years. They defeated Chinese Taipei's Chen-Wei Hsu and Shin-Shian Wu 2-0 (21-13, 23-21).
