Phnom Penh to welcome first of four Cambodian events in 2019

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, October 1, 2018 - After a series of double-gender events in Slovenia and the Netherlands, the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour moves to Cambodia for a women's event in Phnom Penh.

After staging its inaugural event in May 2018 with women's teams from Germany, Japan and Russia placing on the podium, Phnom Penh hosts this year's event from February 21-24.

The 2018 Phnom Penh event featured a qualifying team winning the gold medal as Anna Behlen/Sarah Schneider of Germany defeated second-seeded Suzuka Hashimoto/Sayaka Mizoe of Japan 2-1 (17-21, 21-9, 15-8) in the 50-minute finale.

Earlier in the 2018 Phnom Penh competition, Behlen and Schneider defeated third-seeded Ksenia Dabizha/Daria Mastikova of Russia in pool play. Dabizha and Mastikova eventually placed third after losing to Hashimoto and Mizoe in the semifinals before defeating Alice Bain/Julia Tilley of New Zealand for the bronze medal.
