Quartet march on to Aydin main draw

 
Aydin, Turkey, May 16, 2019 – Four teams from four countries advanced to the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Aydin 2-Star main draw on Thursday to take the number of teams starting pool play on Friday to 16.


Ukraine’s Denys Denysenko and Vladyslav Iemelianchyk led the way when they beat Iranian pair Bahman Salemi and Arash Vakili 2-1 (18-21, 21-19, 15-10). 


Hendrik Mol and Mathias Berntsen from Norway fought back from losing the first set to defeat Estonian pair Dmitriy Korotkov and Mart Tiisaar 2-1 (15-21, 22-20, 15-12). 

Belarusian pair Aliaksandr Dziadkou and Pavel Piatrushka advanced with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-14) defeat of Czech duo Filip Habr and David Lenc. 

The Netherlands’ Dirk Boehlé and Stefan Boermans completed the quartet by beating Latvia’s Mihails Samoilovs and Matiss Gabdullins 2-1 (21-18, 15-21, 16-14). 

The tournament is taking place in Ataturk City Square in the centre of Aydin and it is the second year the city has hosted a 2-Star event. In 2018 Cuba’s Mailen Deliz and Leila Martinez won women’s gold, while Serbia’s Stefan Basta and Lazar Kolaric topped the men’s podium.
