News 01/05/2019 Alba Adriatica returns to FIVB calendar Alba Adriatica, Italy, May 1, 2019 - After hosting international Challenger/Satellite events in 2005, Alba Adriatica returns to the FIVB calendar to host a women's-only FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event from July 12-14.Located in central eastern Italy on the Adriatic Sea, Alba Adriatica is the first of three FIVB World Tour events in the European country in 2019. Pinarella di Cervia stages a men's only tournament from July 25-28 with Rome the site of the FIVB World Tour Finals from September 4-8 for men and women.Prior to the 2018-2019 season, the last FIVB World Tour event staged in Italy was in July 2013 in Rome. Overall, Italy has hosted 25 men's and 20 women's tournaments highlighted by the 2011 FIVB World Beach Volleyball Championships in Rome.The teams of Eugenio Amore/Riccardo Fenili of Italy and Tereza Petrova/Hana Skalnikova of the Czech Republic captured the gold medals at the July 2005 FIVB Challenger/Satellite in Alba Adriatica.
